Hunting and Gathering

The kids began hunting and gathering by playing a matching game. The boys from each band matched animals and the girls matched fruits, edible roots, and nuts. The numbers on the cards were significant when they actually "hunted and gathered."

The boys from Mrs. Webb's class think about their next moves.

The boys from Mrs. Olson's class going for a match.

Shyanne hopes for a match.

Rachal and a successful match?

Mitch throws an arrow, hoping to land it in one of the targets (5 hula hoops). They had 3 throws per hunt. If the arrow landed in the target on the first attempt, they scored 3 times the number on the card; second attempt = 2 times the number on the card; third attempt = the number on the card.

Jacob tries for his band.

Brady with a successful hunt!

Did Jake have good aim?

The girls needed to pick up 40 seeds. If they could do it in 30 seconds, they received 3 times the number on their card; 40 seconds = 2 times the number on the card; more than 50 seconds = the number on the card. Kendall tries for her band.

Hannah gathers for her band.

Danielle gathers for her band.

Lacey gathers sunflower seeds for her band.

First letter...

Hopefully you all received my letter in the mail last week, and have visited this site. Mariyah was the first to send me a letter. It sounds like she is having a good summer, but had a similar camping experience as mine. She is in track this summer, and has been to the playground to see the paintings. Mariyah is also excited for social studies, and to be the oldest in the school. Being the oldest kids in the school is fun, but you have to remember that the little ones are always watching you, and you have to ALWAYS be a good role model for them :)

August

Mrs. Webb and I are excited to begin the school year. We can't believe it's already August! We hope you had an enjoyable summer. You'll have to tell us all about your trips to the pool, camping, basketball tournaments, baseball games, church camps, trips, and other activities in September. We hope you and your families enjoy this blog. You will be able to see and read about what your children are doing in 6th grade. We are looking forward to seeing you all at TCE Open House on September 2nd!
